Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 26, 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how Kasso ("we", "us", or "our") handles information when you use the Kasso macOS application and visit kasso.digital.
Summary
Kasso is local-first. Your work logs, projects, earnings, bills, and settings are stored on your Mac. We do not operate user accounts, we do not sell your data, and we do not embed analytics or advertising SDKs in the app.
Information we do not collect
When you use Kasso, we do not collect:
- Your name, email address, or other account credentials through Kasso itself
- Your time entries, project data, invoices, or financial figures on our servers
- Analytics, crash reporting tied to your identity, or advertising identifiers
Kasso has no sign-in and no Kasso-operated backend that receives your app data.
Data stored on your Mac
App data is stored locally in your Mac's sandboxed Application Support container using SwiftData/SQLite. Depending on your settings, data may exist as plain SQLite while the app is unlocked, or as an encrypted file while locked.
You can export and import backups, generate CSV reports, and manage automatic backups from Settings. You remain in control of those files.
Optional network use (on your request only)
Kasso is sandboxed and does not access the network in the background without your action. The app may connect to the internet only when you explicitly use a feature that requires it:
- Currency rate refresh - If you choose to refresh exchange rates in Settings → Currencies, Kasso requests current rates from a public exchange-rate API. Rates can also be entered manually without any network call.
- App Store update check - If you choose Check for Updates, Kasso queries Apple's iTunes Lookup service to compare the App Store version with your installed version.
- App Store purchases - If you subscribe to Kasso Pro, purchase and renewal are handled entirely by Apple through StoreKit. We receive subscription status through Apple's systems, not your underlying financial records.
- iCloud sync (Pro, optional) - If you turn on iCloud sync, Kasso stores an encrypted snapshot of your data in your private iCloud account via CloudKit. It is not sent to a Kasso server. The app remains fully usable offline on a single Mac when sync is off.
iCloud sync
When enabled, sync uses Apple's CloudKit infrastructure under your Apple ID. Apple's handling of iCloud data is governed by Apple's privacy policies. Kasso cannot read your iCloud data outside your Apple account ecosystem.
If two Macs diverge after offline edits, Kasso may ask you to choose which copy to keep and archives the other locally on the device that discarded it.
Security features
Optional app lock uses Touch ID or your Mac login password. Optional encryption at rest (Pro) seals the database while locked. Authentication and key handling use Apple's platform APIs on your device.
Website (kasso.digital)
This marketing website is static. We do not use tracking cookies or third-party analytics on kasso.digital at the time of this policy. Standard web server logs (such as IP address, browser type, and pages requested) may be recorded by our hosting provider for security and operations.
Children's privacy
Kasso is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of Kasso after changes means you accept the revised policy.
